Reconnect Through Transit Initiative

Providing free bus transportation through NJ Transit to recently housed clients in Essex and Union County, NJ

RTTI

Gaining national recognition, in Nov. 2023 Newark, NJ announced a reduction in its unsheltered unhoused population by 57.6%. Recently housed clients without transportation often struggle to stay connected with the community and resources that previously supported them. Lacking consistent contact they are often isolated from friends and family. The Reconnect Through Transit initiative(RTTI) leverages NJ Transit mobile technology providing members with the ability to stay connected. We focus on ensuring clients keep their housing in the long term while adapting to new environments.
